Air Refueling Memories at Dusk or at Night

My favorite time to air refuel was at dusk or nighttime.

Every time I did this, it left an impression on me. Give a fighter some extra gas, and they’d give you an airshow when leaving.

Overcast cloud decks with the city lights coming through silhouetted the receiver like this F-35. We refuel the A-10 at lower altitudes than other jets because of its engines.

On a clear night, you would only see the Hawg on the Boom. After getting their gas, the Hawgs moved to the observation position on our wing. Just hanging out on the tanker, with that cool sharkmouth on the nose.
