Here’s a comparison shot showing all the lights on their highest output using a AA battery. The lights are pointed towards the window which is about 5 meters away and you can see that the Reylight, the Skilhunt and the Thrunite have more of a spot beam and the other lights are less focused. The Drop Vega also appears to be the warmest and the Reylight and the Skilhunt are closer to neutral and the rest of the lights are cooler.
Here we have the lights sorted according to their manufacturer stated maximum lumen output using a 14500 battery which will improve the max output on each of these lights compared to a AA battery. On the left we have the Wuben E05 which is the brightest at 900 lumens followed by the Lumintop Tool and the Drop Vega both coming in at 650 lumens. The Skilhunt and the Ultratac both have a max output of 600 lumens followed by the Thrunite at 550 lumens and finally the Reylight at 470 lumens.
Here’s a quick comparison of each of these lights on their highest output settings using 14500 batteries. The building is about 30 meters away.
This is another shot indoors with each of the lights on their highest output settings. The couch facing the camera is about 5 meters away.
Now the lights are sorted by maximum runtime and all of the lights achieve their longest runtimes on AA batteries except for the Wuben E05 whose runtime is best with its included 14500 battery. The Reylight has an incredible 720 hours max runtime followed by the ThruNite with 336 hours, the UltraTac with 180 hours, the Wuben with 115 and the Skilhunt in last place with about 48 hours.
Now we have the lights sorted by their manufacturer stated lowest output settings and as you can see the order mirrors the runtime comparison in the previous shot. The ReyLight has the lowest output at 0.2 lumens closely followed by the ThruNite close behind with 0.5 lumens. The Skilhunt E2A has the highest output low setting with 5 lumens.
Here the lights are sorted by weight including a 14500 battery. The ReyLight is the heaviest by a longshot at 4.49 ounces followed by the Wuben at 2.11 ounces. The Skilhunt E2A and the Drop Vega are the lightest coming in at just over 1.5 ounces.
Finally we have the lights sorted by price. Keep in mind these are subject to change and that these were just the ones I found at the time of making this video. The UltraTac is the cheapest at $17 followed by the Lumintop at $20, the Skilhunt at $22, the ThruNite at $24, the Drop Vega at $35, the Wuben at about $40 and finally the ReyLight at around $75.
Overall I was really impressed by these lights and I think they are all good options to consider for everyday carry due to their compact size, battery flexibility, high outputs and long runtimes. Let me know which of these lights is your favorite in the comments below and if you have another AA or 14500 light that you prefer let us know what it is in the comments.
