Jeep is back in the premium five-seat SUV market, adding a shorter-wheelbase version of its Grand Cherokee 4WD model here in Australia. While the entry level Night Eagle trim represents half-decent value for money, the upper trims – especially the loaded Overland on test – are overpriced.

In Australia, all Grand Cherokees are powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre Pentastar gasoline V6 engine. Two levels of 4WD system are available.
