The Real History Behind 'Beasts of No Nation' | Sierra Leone Civil War 1991-2002

Sierra Leone is a small country in West Africa whose civil war lasting from 1991 pit the Revolutionary United Front against the Sierra Leone Army (at times), Kamajors and peace-keeping forces. The 2015 film Beasts of No Nation does not specify in which country it takes place though the scenarios presented for the young protagonist Agu do make it likely it's based on the Sierra Leone Civil War.
