Mt. Washington Experience - Windy, cold, amazing

Mt. Washington is home to some of the worst weather in the world. No joke. This New Hampshire mountain is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States. But at just 6,288.2 ft (1,916.6 m) it dwarfs in comparison to the mountains out west. The extreme weather comes from a natural bottle necking of the the winds through the mountains and blast up the side of Mt. Washington causing extreme and deadly weather all year round.

This mountain is notorious for its dangerous and erratic weather. On April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a windspeed of 231 miles per hour (372 km/h) at the summit.

Since 1869, the Mount Washington Cog Railway has provided tourists with a train journey to the summit of Mount Washington. It uses a Marsh rack system and was the first successful rack railway in the US.
