24 days until goat babies!!! And a visit from the Puppy in our final minute of mediation! And guess what? I just learned it is National Puppy Day! Talk about perfect timing!

Hello Farm Friends. We are expecting up to 7 inches of snow in Maine today! That weather news matches the news about the virus. Rough stuff. As Mayor Cuomo said today, “the pain of isolation real, this is all unnatural and disorienting.” We are all feeling that as we settle into this real continuing situation. Humans crave community and right now we are physically disconnected to other humans is a way that is troubling on so many levels. But we can still work to find community even when faced with these temporary physical boundaries. Today our neighbor brought her puppy Thunder by, thanks to the internet I can share a bit of that visit with you. I am so thankful to know that our farm community is out there, even though it is hard to consider that many events we hold dear that are the lifeblood of the farm, are on hold for now.

Please find ways to reach out to each other that are not in person so we can make it out the other side of this with as little loss of life as possible. We are skipping the grocery this week. Finding ways to stay entertained around the farm (Chris has cleaned out the entire left side of the barn in the last couple of days!!)

There is so little I can do to help all of you out there with the very real problems which are arising with this unprecedented situation, but I can share with you the one thing that makes me feel a lot better -- time in the barn with the goats!

QUESTION OF THE DAY! What might you plan to do this week to engage with community in satisfying ways even while remaining physically distant?

Goats are professionals at staying in the moment, ruminating and enjoying what is! This series of videos checking in with them as they get closer to kidding is designed so you can spend a bit of time with them each day too! I swear, just seeing them slows your blood pressure down! No matter where you are or what you are facing each day, the goats will do their part to keep you centered!

I usually try not to include myself or my voice in farm videos and we will return to that when the babies begin arriving, but these are strange times and reaching out more personally, human to human seems the right way to go for now. Each video will have a focus...today is FINDING COMMUNITY IN ISOLATION!! Each video will be around 5 minutes long with a closing section of quiet meditation. I challenge everyone to watch without toggling to news mid-video and taking the final minute of quiet to breathe a little more consciously and deeply. I hope when the video ends, your farm visit will have you feeling a little more relaxed.

Virtual xoxo and hoof taps! From Hope & the herd! (I am still working on getting my sweetie in on a video!)

Thanks for visiting farm friends.
