Why I Prefer Body Weight (Calisthenics) Over Weightlifting for Martial Arts

While I loved weightlifting back in the day, I've found bodyweight exercise just partners better with martial arts. This doesn't mean I still don't lift weight from time to time or think weight lifting is the devil --- it's solely my findings within my personal experience. I believe lifting weights is still important, however, calisthenics is an easier and beginner friendly way to do both martial arts and strength training without having to commit to a crazy weight lifting regimen. There are also a lot benefits of bodyweight exercise that play well into the attributes we desire as martial artists. Try it out and see if you like it!
