It just got released late June 2025, and travel hackers are really excited about this new card, but also torn on it’s it’s higher annual fee is truly worth it. I’m Leen with Leen on Travel, and while I’ve got a longer video breaking this down into more details, let me summarize real quick for you which card would be better!
For the beginner travel hacker, go with the $95 annual fee Sapphire Preferred card. It’ll get you everything you need want without being a hassle. But with the Reserve, there’s sooo much more value built into that $795 annual fee. The Sapphire Reserve is valued to be worth $2500, while the Preferred is valued at $1500.
The biggest difference worth noting?
With the Reserve, you get amazing airport lounge access with 2 free guests. So this card will replace my Venture X after all of Capital One’s lounge changes happen February 2026.
