Nature Observation - August Review

#insects #naturejournal #naturalist
If you want to study nature and become a naturalist, this is an important exercise! Mother Nature is August has really been active. The insects were in full swing as all the meadows were filled with Goldenrod and plenty of other summer flowers. Pollinators were so busy! Deer were chomping away at all the lush vegetation and nearly every adult had a child with her. Spiders were everywhere and my favorites are the Black and yellow Argiope spiders. These orb weaver spiders get very large and are a sure sight to behold. David Attenborough must love Pennsylvania in August since there is so much to see and witness. The summer heat was relentless and the humid days were intense. Katydids, crickets and cicadas were singing all day and night in search for females and to protect territory. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful. Entomology enthusiasts will be thrilled with late summer and early fall
