Ionic Reaction in Solution (Animation)- Dr.Amal K Kumar

In this video, the animated representation of ionic reacn fascinates students in chemistry. An ionic reaction is a chemical reaction in which the dissociated ions of electrolytes combine to form either covalent compounds (e.g., combination of hydrogen ion & hydroxide ion to form H2O) or electrovalent compd. which precipitates out from the soln. The unreacted ions present in the soln are called spectator ions.In aq. soln H2SO4 dissociates into H+ & sulfate ions and BaCl2 dissociates into barium ion & chloride ion. When the two solns mixed together barium ion & sulfate ion combine to form insoluble barium sulfate compd, which precipitates out from the soln. The unreacted hydrogen ion & chloride ion remain in soln and ,therefore, these are spectator ions. This type of reactions are also called Double Displacement reaction.
