Landing a Cessna 210 at a Class Bravo Airport: Memphis International Airport

This is about the most simple approach and landing at a Class Bravo airport that you'll ever see. Flying direct from my home airport I was given a single fix and then cleared to land...doesn't get much better than that!

My friend Brad and I loaded up the Cessna 210 and made our way west for a continuing education conference. The location of this conference was literally a 5 minute drive from Memphis International Airport so it was the perfect opportunity to check off another Class B airport off my list. It was an early morning flight so that definitely helped with the low traffic coming into Memphis.

About the only hiccup was a call I received from tower as I was on final saying that I was too low. This however was inaccurate. I was actually above glideslope at the time as was indicated by the four PAPI lights. (I said VASI in the video; I always get that mixed up.) It was a completely clear day so no harm, no foul. However, if I was on an ILS approach and received this same erroneous warning I would've had a legit panic attack!

I always enjoy visiting Memphis. The city played such an important role during a very stressful yet formative stage of my life. I'll never miss a chance to visit...and enjoy some barbecue! Until next time Bluff City...
