Sudden winter weather in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia this weekend comes after days of unusually warm weather. In Serbia, people in the north of the country woke up in a snow-covered landscape, while temperatures in the south reached 22 degrees Celsius

In both Serbia and Bosnia, wet and heavy snowfall caused branches and trees to fall, sometimes blocking roads. In the western Serbian city of Uzice, a tree fell onto a footpath, hitting a woman with small children, but there were no serious injuries.

Earlier, Croatian police said the bus had overturned, killing one person and injuring several others. According to police, the accident occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday in western Croatia.
The bus with Albanian license plates went off the road, crashed into a guardrail and overturned. It contained nine people and a driver.
Traffic problems have also been reported in Serbia and Bosnia. The Serbian authorities have banned the movement of trucks with trailers on the roads and reported a slowdown in traffic throughout the region.
Croatian authorities on Sunday closed all roads connecting the country's mainland to the Adriatic coast due to heavy snowfall and strong winds that caused havoc on roads in the country and elsewhere in the Balkans.
