Oaxaca City vs. Merida, Yucatan (Which is the better choice to live or travel?) Mexico 2021

So many places, so little time! We hear a lot of hype about Oaxaca and after spending 1.5 months in Merida, we had to get over here to explore the city that was called 'the best in the world' by Travel & Leisure voters in 2020.

We get a lot of questions and see a lot of comments about both of these amazing cities in Mexico, so we decided to break down our favorite things about each place, as well as our least favorite. We compared them in several different categories that we think are pretty important. Ultimately, in our opinion there some of the world's best cities in one of the world's best countries!

You can't go wrong either way, but hopefully, this will help you make a decision if you're limited on travel time or can only try one for now. We're sure it won't be an easy decision!

We're towards the end of spending 3 weeks in the lovely city of Oaxaca, the rest of our month in Oaxaca will be spent on the coast so stay tuned for that. Before coming to Oaxaca, we spent 3 weeks exploring Chiapas.Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, and more! Lots more content to come from there as well. In the near future, we're heading to Mexico City to begin exploring Central Mexico! We're beyond excited because we've heard some amazing things.
