Hey Artnerds! I'm on the hunt for great watercolor papers for illustration, and wanted to give Hahnemule Cezanne a shot! Is Cezanne worth adding to your paper stash? Or is it a bit too spendy for your illustration needs?

After a small amount of rippling when I applied my first wash (not even really enough to comment on), paper dried flat and there was no buckling or rippling during the rest of the painting. Paper seems to have a decent amount of internal sizing to give it structure.

It's a shame I opted to do a fairly simple, very sunlight watercolor illustration for this fieldtest, as this paper seems like it would handle large amounts of water and significant working well. Colors dry almost as vibrant and saturated as they go down- a nice change of pace from other watercolor papers that often dry desaturated and too light.

The surface on this paper is really nice, handles brushwork well, with little unintended bleeding or spidering. Seems like it's easy to pull tight detail.

Pros:

Colors are really vibrant and saturated on this paper- there's no speckling (one of the issues I have with Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress) or fading, so this is a really good paper for beautiful, saturated color.
No buckling

Cons:

Fairly expensive compared to other papers
Somewhat tricky to find- Blick, Jerry's, Plaza, Michaels don't carry it
Only 10 sheets in a block
