Schlachtfeld Rheinland: Clervaux, the Ardennes, Monschau, and the Hurtgenwald.

December 16th marks the 79th anniversary of the beginning of the German Offensive against American Forces in the Ardennes forest. To the Germans it was known as "Wacht am Rhein" and to the American's it was "The Battle of the Bulge." This video features some of the battlefields and locations associated with the Second World War. Specifically the Ardennes, Eifel, and Hurtgen forests of the Rhineland and Luxembourg. It also includes my attempts to follow in the footsteps of my Grandfathers unit, the 709th Tank Battalion, which saw action in the both the Hürtgen Forest and the Ardennes in the fall and winter of 1944-45.
