Down Through The Years - Clifford Jordan

Jazz fans know that Clifford Jordan was one of the genre's great tenormen. He ranks right up there with Coltrane and Rollins in as much as his ability to get around his instrument. He was a technically proficient player with a Rollins-like approach yet he had a wispier sound that was blues-based. His ability to swing and groove was unimpeachable. Yet, few know of his ability to write interesting tunes. On this album, Jordan realizes one of his dreams by getting together a big band of his personal buddies and colleagues who could also play the roof off of any joint. On this piece we are treated to a trumpet solo by none other than the highly undervalued Dizzy Reece. The music speaks for itself so I'll just leave you guys to it.
