Aye Aye Lemur of Madagascar

The Aye-aye lemur lives in the jungles of Madagascar, and is probably the world's strangest mammal.
Its ghostly aspect has lent it its name: the word lemur in Latin means "night spirit"
One of the finger on their hands is much longer than the others, and this is used to dig into the bark of trees to extract insect larvae, their main food source.
When they cannot find larvae, they also feed on mushrooms, fruit and nuts.
They have very large eyes, and well-developed senses of both hearing and smell, allowing them to survive at night.
But the aye-aye lemur is in danger of extinction, due to the indiscriminate felling of forests of Madagascar.
