First Black African in History to Slide Headfirst - Akwasi Frimpong's road to the Winter Olympics

Dutch- Ghanaian Akwasi Frimpong has become the first West African ever in history to slide headfirst in the sport of skeleton. He did that during the 2017 IBSF (International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation) World Championships in February 2017 in königssee, Germany. Now he is set to make history at the Winter Olympics and represent all Africans.

Akwasi has made a name for himself in the sporting world as a bobsledder, sprinter and skeleton athlete. He has successfully represented his country in several local and international sports events, including winning gold at the Dutch junior 200m Championships in 2003. Currently, Akwasi hopes to change the sporting history for his birthplace, Ghana, by competing in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
