FATAL FURY SPECIAL Retrospective - The Dawn of the KING OF FIGHTERS

This video is the third chapter of the Game Hero History of Terry Bogard and a retrospective of the classic SNK fighting game, FATAL FURY SPECIAL.
In this video we will discuss the faster paced game play speed and the new combo system that elevated this game above Fatal Fury 2.
This retrospective also details the importance of the secret Boss Fighter at the end of FATAL FURY SPECIAL, Ryo Sakazaki, and how this small crossover event triggered the SNK Corporation to develop the KING OF FIGHTERS franchise that would become their flagship fighting game and go on to become one of the most influential fighting game franchises across the entire genre.
We'll also briefly examine the roster of playable fighters and evaluate Terry Bogard's special move set, primarily the devstating power of Terry's rising tackle technique which is even more broken in this game then it was in FATA: FURY 2.
This video also marks the first Fatal Fury game that has no official lore associated with it and therefore represents Terry Bogard's first non-kayfabe appearance as a video game hero.
For those of you unaware of what Kayfabe is...
Kayfabe - Kayfabe is the unspoken agreement between wrestlers and fans to pretend that wrestling events, rivalries, and characters are genuine. The purpose of kayfabe is to make the audience believe that the wrestling is a legitimate sporting contest. When a wrestler breaks kayfabe, it means they stop acting in the manner of their persona. For example, in 1997, Vince McMahon, the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, broke kayfabe by admitting on-air that wrestling was scripted.

The video series will release in chapter format over the next 6 months leading up to the release of Fatal Fury COTW. The series details Terry's entire gaming career with a chapter dedicated to each game that he appears in, except for the ones that I couldn't actually play myself. I'll still give them all a mention in the final chapter but I won't be able to do them the same justice I am doing the others unless I can actually play through them myself. It's the honorable thing to do!

Terry Bogard is easily one of my top 5 favorite video game heroes and producing this series has been a lot of fun!
