June is the rainy season in Japan. However, colorful hydrangeas are in full bloom. Even on a rainy day, people go out to see beautiful Hydrangea in a park or a temple.

Especially in Kamakura, hydrangea flower is as popular as cherry blossom.
Kamakura is a coastal town , less than an hour south of Tokyo. As the first Samurai, Japanese warriors, government was set in 12th century, there are many historical sites.

We are going to bring you to Hasedera Temple, which is known as "Hydrangea temple" in Kamakura. There are thousands of colorful hydrangeas are in full bloom in June along the walking paths.

Hasedera Temple is not only a hydrangea temple, but also a temple with many attractions.
The garden is said to be "Kamakura's Buddhist Paradise" and seasonal flowers are blooming around the pond. The eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva, the main statue of the temple, is one of the largest wooden statues in Japan, and it has been 1,300 years since it was made.
In addition, there are unique things such as the shrine where oyster shells are dedicated as wish boards and the cute Jizo statues that can be seen here and there.

鎌倉は東京から南へ1時間足らずの海岸沿いの町です。一番最初の侍幕府が12世紀に設立されたので、多くの史跡があります。

今回のライブストリーミングでは、鎌倉の「あじさい寺」として知られる長谷寺にご案内します。
6月は境内の散策路沿いに何千もの色とりどりの紫陽花が満開になっています。

長谷寺は紫陽花だけでなく、見どころが沢山あるお寺です。
庭園は「鎌倉の極楽浄土」とうたわれ、池を中心に季節の花々が咲き誇っています。また本尊の十一面観音菩薩は日本最大級の木彫仏で、作られてから今年で1,300年になります。
さらに牡蠣殻が絵馬となって奉納されている神社や、境内にあちこちで見られる可愛らしい地蔵仏など、他ではみられないユニークなものもあります。
