Mobile clinics in Mali: providing health care to displaced people
In Mali, 450,000 people are currently being forced to flee their homes due to the conflict in the country since 2012.
The situation has seriously worsened in the last few years, with vulnerable populations facing an increase in violence and insecurity. They have also faced severe violations of international humanitarian law by all parties.
The conflict has had a devastating impact on the country’s fragile health system, compounded further by the COVID-19 pandemic. Disease is rife among the internally displaced, especially women and children.
In the region of Mopti, the EU and its humanitarian partner Save the Children are providing free health care to vulnerable individuals, through mobile clinics.
More than 1,500 people benefit from the services offered by the mobile clinics every month.
They are treated for various diseases and malnutrition, and are educated on good health practices, including on how to fight against COVID-19.
