Svenska Hotkvintetten 1939-1941

The Svenska Hotkvintetten :

This little-known Swedish band (its name translated to English is the Swedish Hot Quintet) was closely modelled after the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. With violinist Emil Iwring and guitarists Sven Stiberg (single-string) and Folke Eriskberg (chordal) taking solos, this group was one of the hottest in existence during 1939-1941. Violinist Emil Iwring was almost Grappelli's equal at the time. However, its recordings rarely circulated outside of Sweden and it was one of the great unknown bands in jazz history. --Scott Yanow, allmusic.com
