Malaysia's gas supply stable, no immediate shortage risk: MOSTI, Gas Malaysia

Malaysia’s gas supply remains stable with no immediate risk of shortages despite global energy market uncertainty, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang.

He said Malaysia has sufficient supply, with about 80 per cent of electricity generation supported by domestic resources, reducing exposure to external disruptions.

Gas Malaysia Bhd also confirmed that gas volumes received from Petronas remain adequate to meet demand, with customers facing no supply issues.

The company noted that Malaysia relies mainly on domestic gas production and imports from Australia, with limited dependence on the Middle East.

Industry concerns remain focused on transportation costs and supply chain disruptions rather than energy supply shortages.
