Avoiding the Traps of the Early Career Nurse Scientist

The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) 2020 State of the Science Congress on Nursing Research Panel Presentation by CANS Early Career Special Interest Group (SIG) and featured speakers:

The objective of this panel discussion is to engage an early career audience, including students of all levels, post-doctoral trainees, and early career faculty, in a dialogue aimed at identifying some of the common traps encountered by early career academics. This panel of early to mid-career nurse scientists will discuss ways to avoid the traps of early career including imposter syndrome, always saying “yes,” maintaining focus, and work-life management. Each speaker will highlight personal experiences and discuss how they have remained steadfast to their early career trajectory despite these potential “traps.”
