How to Create a Morning Routine For Success | The 5 Things I Do Every Single Morning

#1 - WAKE UP EARLY

I wake up between 5 and 6am every morning which I believe is the best way to start the day.

There aren’t many other people awake at that time so it’s usually really quiet and that gives you mental space to focus without any outside distractions.

Studies have also shown that people who consistently wake up early tend to have better brain function, resulting in superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

#2 - JOURNAL

The best way that I’ve found of doing this is by using a journal called the 5 Minute Journal (https://amzn.to/2RWcI7z) which takes 5 minutes or less and covers off all of the important things to think through and write down every morning.
 
Each page has a quote at the top and then asks you to list out three things that you’re grateful for, which encourages you to think positively about the things that you appreciate.

There is then space to list out three things you could do to make that day great, which gives you the opportunity to think about the goals you want to achieve and then figure out the three most important things you need to do to get closer to hitting those goals.
 
The last section to be filled out in the morning is for affirmations, which is where you write out statements that are personal to you and the goals you want to accomplish.
 
Then later in the evening there are two sections to fill out that ask you to write down three great things that happened that day and two ways that you could have made that day better.

#3 - VISUALISATION

All you need to do here is sit down for 5 or 10 minutes, close your eyes and think about your goals, which may feel strange at first but I find it's where some of my best ideas come from!

Sitting in silence with no distractions helps you to completely focus on your goals which lets your brain think creatively and come up with ideas as to how you can achieve them!

#4 - READING

I set myself a goal of reading for thirty minutes every morning, but you could just as easily set a target based on the number of pages you want to read rather than the length of time you want to read for.

Either way, it’s important to set a target for yourself to ensure that you’re reading a good amount every day.

When it comes to what to read, try to make sure it’s something non-fictional that you will learn something from - I read a lot of books about business and personal finance, and I also read auto-biographies of successful people to get glimpse into their mindset and way of thinking.

#5 - EXERCISE

This also ties back into the first point about waking up early, as the morning is considered to be the best time for workouts!

Exercise has many benefits such as helping to control your weight, lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease, but aside from that it also makes you feel really good about yourself and gives you a lot more energy that you can then use towards other important things like achieving your goals.
 
I also like to listen to an educational podcast or an audiobook when I’m exercising to really help maximise the use of that time.
