HERE ARE THE 5 WAYS TO MONETISE YOUR CHANNEL:

#1 - ADVERTISING REVENUE

This is the primary way of monetising your YouTube channel and it's done directly through YouTube's platform.

Before you can turn ads on, you’ll need to be accepted into the YouTube partner program and there are a couple of requirements that you’ll need to meet for that, including reaching 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of public watch-time within the last 12 months.

The amount of income that you can earn through ad revenue varies depending on your niche and where your audience is based, for example make-up tutorial videos earn a higher CPM (i.e. cost per thousand views) than prank videos.

#2 - AFFILIATE LINKS

There are many companies out there that offer affiliate programs – one popular example is Amazon Affiliates.

Once you’ve set up an account with Amazon Affiliates, you'll be able to generate personalised links to any of the products sold through Amazon's website.

Then whenever someone clicks on one of your links, they'll be re-directed to the relevant product page on Amazon's website and if they decide to purchase anything during that session, Amazon will pay you a percentage-based commission!

The best way to apply this to YouTube is to add affiliate links into your video description so that your viewers can easily find any of the products that you want to share with them.

#3 - BRAND DEALS

This is where brands pay you directly to advertise their products or services in your videos.

For example, if your videos are all about baking, your subscribers are likely to be interested in baking and therefore manufacturers of cake decorations might wish to partner with you and showcase their products directly to your audience.

It's important to be careful when choosing which brand deals to accept - your focus should always be on partnering with companies that you trust and that can provide real value to your viewers.

Brands will generally pay you an up-front sum (agreed in advance) for a mention in one or more of your videos, and the bigger your audience is, the more valuable these deals can be!

#4 - MERCHANDISE

This involves designing some branded logos and having them printed onto various items that your YouTube audience might wish to purchase, for example clothing, phone cases and coffee cups.

Rather than bulk ordering these items many choose to use print on demand services, so when a customer orders one of your T-shirts for example, the supplier will print your design onto a T-shirt and ship it off to the customer for you.

This does require a good-sized audience if you want to generate a lot of sales, but it's definitely worth having a think about if you're serious about growing a YouTube channel.

#5 - COURSES

If your videos are generating views and people enjoy watching them, you're offering value to people through your content, and there are people out there who would be willing to buy a course from you if you offered one.

This can be a great way of generating additional income from your YouTube channel - once you've put in the work to create the course, just include a link to it in your video description, and then mention it once in a while on your channel.

Whatever your niche is, there's a good possibility that you could create a course that your viewers really value so it's worth having a think about whether this is something you want to do.
