He got his start acting performing in over fifty stage plays including three Broadway productions. After making the jump from the stage to the screen, Peck enjoyed a thriving career in film appearing in hit films like Cape Fear, The Boys of Brazil, The Sea Wolves, The Omen, and Roman Holiday. He was an incredibly talented actor who had a dynamic range. He could play virtually any type of character that a producer wanted him to, but he was well-known for portraying leading men with high moral fiber.
Peck won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his riveting performance as Atticus Finch in the 1962 film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Even though Peck enjoyed a full and fulfilling career in the entertainment industry, he also experienced quite a bit of adversity and peril in his life. One event in particular that devastated Peck beyond works was the sudden and tragic death of his son, Jonathan.
