Gigafactory Texas on 25 April 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
A gorgeous day to fly at Giga Texas! Sunny, warm, basically no winds, & visibility for miles! I tried to take advantage of the lighting as much as possible while also trying to cover as much of the area as I could and get closer to some areas due to the slower pace of work at the site today.
In this video, we discuss at length the casting machine (a.k.a. Giga Press) area, including some engineering drawings and possible adaptations from Giga berlin to Giga Texas to match what we see, historical information to help discuss current construction choices that seem to have been made, and possible ramifications for timelines, both construction and production.

Here are some of the highlights from today:
- The NW corner (Battery Cell area) steel structure is now just 2 1/2 sections from meeting the 45-degree bend in the perimeter grade beam and only about 6 sections from reaching the north perimeter grade beam! At this pace, and with the materials already on site, they may very well complete the primary steel skeleton structure by the end of this week!
- The casting machine structure extension area in the NE corner has almost all the footings installed, except for where the 2 temporary LNG tanks are parked. These will most likely be removed this week to allow completion of the foundation preparation.
- On the east side, there is a renewed effort to level some hills and trees just east of the Martin Marietta batch plant, and a new clearing a bit farther east. The Battery cathode production area grade work is progressing to a near level status now and the last remaining pond should be completely gone this week.
- On the east side of the BIW structure, more prefabricated concrete panels have been installed.
- The stamping machine structure exterior concrete walls appear to be getting a coating of white paint on the SE side. I am not sure if this is the final coating and color, or if this is some kind of water proofing application or other intermediary step.
- Much more land clearing, levelling and filling is taking place on the south area of the large water detention pond and across the highway where Ranger Excavation has been at work since about 9 April. In this area, GeoTextile membranes are being used to improve the stability of the soil prior to construction and the overall grade has been raised about 6 feet. A large area is now emerging that looks to be a potential foundation location, but it is still a bit early to tell for sure.
- The west steel structure has grown again to the south and a lot of steel and related materials is stockpiled, ready for more construction this week.
- The SW footing field shows more work and most of the footing rows are within one or two footings from the south perimeter grade beam.
