Tucuruí is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pará. It has a total area of ​​2,086 km² and its population, according to IBGE estimates for 2021, was 116,605 inhabitants. [ 2 ]

It is known for hosting the largest fully Brazilian hydroelectric power plant and the fourth in the world: the Tucuruí Hydroelectric Power Plant, built and operated since November 22, 1984 by Eletronorte.

It is the oldest still existing location in southeastern Pará ( Carajás region ), being founded as a Portuguese military colony in 1779.
