The Anabaptist Story Lives On: The Great Trek: Mennonites Migrate from Russia to Central Asia

In this Virtual Museum & Archive Tour presentation, John E. Sharp, historian and former Hesston College Professor shared photos and told stories of The Great Trek migration from the Russian Empire to Central Asia in the 1880s. During a lively Q &A time, hear why these Mennonites migrated to Central Asia. John also talked about a museum in Khiva, Uzbekistan started by an Uzbek scholar who collected artifacts the Mennonites left behind. The museum was created because Uzbeks are grateful for all the Mennonites taught them--including effective farming methods and photography.

To experience this story, travel with John Sharp on the Silk Road Odyssey: The Trek to Central Asia Tour, September 19 to October 2, 2021. TourMagination is the only North American travel company offering a tour about The Great Trek. Don't miss out on this unique tour!
