Iraq - Foreign Minister gives press conference

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahhaf appealed Friday (14/11) for talks with the United States "without preconditions" but said he expects Washington to launch a military strike. Iraq has charged that the United States was using the arms monitoring as a tool to prolong the UN economic sanctions which have been in force against Baghdad since its 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
