GM Side Roll sign box

Showing the inner workings of a side destination sign box from a GM Newlook Fishbowl. Most of the Newlook buses from the 1960's to the 1980's used the same design with only minor changes. For the demo I used a roll from the Port Coquitlam yard that is part of bus system in Metro Vancouver's suburbs. Sometimes these rollers do jam, but are easy to clear.

The text faces to the outside of the bus and the handle is inward facing. Unfortunately the other half the the roll sign box is left in the bus when they get retired.

This is one of the sign boxes I service for the Transit Museum Society and sometimes sell them. Very limited stock.
