Bob Grossman's Straw Bale Home in Arvada with Solar Thermal Radiant Floor Heating

This home built between 2005 and 2010 has both solar PV and solar thermal panels. The solar-heated water, augmented on cloudy days by a tankless gas water heater, runs through 12,000 linear feet of PEX tubing in the concrete floors of this home. Its south-facing windows also provide a lot of sun heat on cold sunny days, with the stained concrete floor functioning as a thermal mass to release that heat after dark.
