Landcruiser 45 2F Stalls after two minutes. Can I fix it?

Toyota Landcruiser 2F 1984 petrol engine starts ok but stalls or runs really bad after about two minutes. At first I suspect a spark plug to be the problem but then it turns out to be the coil. Possibly both contributing factors.

Update:
They reason the coil failed was that a previous mechanic replaced the distributor with a breakerless one that did not require a ballast resistor.
So he removed the ballast resistor from the circuit.
Years later the replacement distributor also failed and it was replaced again however the replacement required the resistor (now removed).
The distributor, coil and resistor all need to suit each other and work together or stuff fails. This coil only needed 8v and it was getting 12v. It worked for a couple of months with infrequent driving. Long story short I found a new old stock ballast resistor on eBay and no problem since.
