‘This is the priority?’: Labor slammed over smart TV app legislation as homelessness rises

Sky News host Paul Murray says the government is “fiddling while Rome’s burning” as they look to prioritise which apps get priority on Australians smart televisions.

“Because the government should decide what truth is,” Mr Murray said.

“A new decision which is apparently the great priority of the government to decide how your smart television works.”

New legislation by Labor would force Australians to have Free to Air media pre-installed on smart devices, which would mean Nine, 7, 10 and even the ABC would appear ahead of Sky News Australia.

The free to air networks also want algorithmic advantage on search which would create a significant market advantage which could make it more difficult for viewers to find Sky News content.
