Myles O'Reilly :: Point of Disgust (Session from Oblivion)
Myles O'Reilly performs Point of Disgust, written by Mimi Parker and Low, on Sessions From Oblivion broadcast on RTE 2XM.
"There are periods of life, as expressed so beautifully by the late Mimi Parker of 'Low' in this, her song Point Of Disgust, where we walk in to a sadness, or unconsciously walk away from what makes us happy but "Mercy me. It never lasts" . We keep walking and eventually circle back. In our sights "like a vision, like a light" we walk out of the fog and return to clarity and the understanding of what makes us happy.
It's such an important message, that through perseverance, we grow and process life without letting the downs (and there will always be downs) affect our spirit and morale. Getting through hard patches, make us stronger.
It has been exactly a year since I found my singing voice again. When I summoned the motivation to get up off my knees, I continued on a journey back to the one form of expression that truly makes this buchal the happiest.. Thank you Low and the late great Mimi Parker for this song I clung to through years of silence. Thank you also to everyone who has been listening to my songs this past year, buying the records and going to the gigs. I am so very grateful for that connection. Massive thanks due to the excellent Sessions From Oblivion for having me perform on their show, and my manager @louisebarker for generally being such a supportive legend 🙏 " - Myles
