On November 7, 1941, a military parade was held on Red Square in honor of the 24th anniversary of the Great October Revolution. The parade was prepared under conditions of utmost secrecy in the midst of the Battle for Moscow, when the front line was only a few dozen kilometers from the Soviet capital. The parade was of great historical significance, showing the high fortitude of Red Army soldiers and commanders and inspiring thousands of young men from all over the Soviet Union to enlist as volunteers at the front.
