She graduated in 2015 before pursuing a career in the technology industry, where she has worked as a technology consultant across industries including banking, retail and energy.

In 2018, Sonya founded Like Minded Females (LMF), a female empowerment & diversity network, with the objective to create female-friendly events which enhance life skills and empower women. Founded with the intent to educate, empower, provide a sense of community and mitigate mental health issues, LMF has engaged with over 12,000 people, grown the social community to over 8,000 followers, hosted over 30 events and been recognised as a key player in social mobility.
