Wind, rain, and cold! That was our North Dakota experience. I have filmed in conditions before (Black Mesa, OK, Mount Arvon, Michigan) but this was one of the more rough outings. The team persevered, we made the summit, and got the footage we needed.

White Butte is the highest point in North Dakota with an elevation of 3507 feet making it the 30th highest state highpoint. Despite it's rural location it isn't too difficult to find and I find it has an austere beauty. Keep in mind if you visit weather conditions can be variable. It can be cold, wet, hot, dry sometimes all in the same day so pack accordingly.

Directions to White Butte from Amidon, ND (about 8 miles total drive)
Head east on US Highway 85, turn south on 140th Ave SW
Travel down 140th Ave SW for several miles, the turn you are looking for will be the first road heading to the right. There will be signs. Park at the trailhead, do not proceed to the Dennis farm. It will be well marked.
