Eta Carinae Nebula (NGC 3372) through a 80 mm telescope

Nebulosa de eta Carinae ou NGC 3372.

The nebula here is a star-forming region, which encompasses some very young star clusters. It is also home to the famous variable star Eta Carina, which is one of the most massive stars in the Milky Way, at around 150 times the mass of the Sun.

The nebula is located approximately 8,500 light-years from Earth, in the Carina-Sagittarius arm of our galaxy. In the night sky it is to the right of the Southern Cross.

A nebulosa em questão é uma região de formação estelar, onde engloba vários aglomerados estelares muito jovens. Também é o lar da famosa estrela variável Eta Carina, que é uma das mais massivas da Via Láctea, com cerca de 150x a massa solar.

A nebulosa está localizada a aproximadamente 8.500 anos-luz da Terra, no braço de nossa galáxia conhecido por Carina-Sagitário. No céu noturno se encontra à direita do cruzeiro do Sul.
