About the target:
Messier 23 (NGC 6494) is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Sagittarius. It was discovered by the Frenchman Charles Messier on June 20, 1764.

Messier 23 is located about 2,150 light years from Earth, and between 15 to 20 light years in diameter. 150 stars belonging to the cluster were identified, with the brightest star having an apparent magnitude of 6.2. Messier 23 can be found with the use of reasonable telescopes among numerous stars located in the galactic bulge of the Milky Way.
