12 Km from home long range flight with DJI FPV system, Chimera 7 LR frame and massive Li-ion battery

Video of a 12.3 km / 7.6 miles long range trip with the Chimera 7 LR & DJI FPV system. There’s potential for even more distance!

Distance of test : 12.3 Km / 7.6 miles at the point where i turn back. I did this flight by myself without a spotter to help me keep the perfect orientation with the goggles. This, together with a lower altitude, is the reason why video bitrate is lower than previous 10km flight on the same path: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnJZ0ULwzHo .
I lost video signal after the turning point, because I oversteered and I was flying sideways, which is the worst position for the antennas, otherwise it would have been fine. I recovered video signal a few seconds after, and turned off GPS rescue continuing my trip home.

JR Module : TBS Crossfire TX lite ( https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:crossfire_tx_lite . I set it to 2W but forgot to connect the lipo battery to the module, so it stepped back to 500mw and that’s the reason for some link quality dropouts. Now I configured the tx16s to continuously play a warning message if I forget connecting the radio lipo to the tx module.

Radio antenna : TBS shapeshifter ( https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:vas_shapeshifter_900 ) , set in vertical position and in directional mode.

Receiver : TBS crossfire diversity nano rx ( https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:xf_nano_div_rx ) set at 8CH. Dynamic power set to off, because i want it to always work at the output power that i select in the radio.

RC Link antennas : 1x Truerc planar bazooka dipole 868mhz antennas vertically placed at the back ( https://www.truerc.ca/shop/linear-antennas/900mhz-2/truerc-bardpole-868-mhz ) set at 20 degrees, and 1x stock dipole antenna horizontally placed at the front

Video antennas : 2x tbs triumph pro (long range) ( https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:triumph_pro_sma_lr ).

Dji unit settings : 1.200mw, 50 mbit, High Quality, 4/3 screen, autofocus off, power control on

Betaflight main settings : 4.2.8 firmware
PIDS : multiplier 1.1
Filters settings sliders : 1.8 / 1.8, RPM filters ON.
ESC settings : 48 PWM, timings 11 (my tests with a power meter show that those settings allow for a 7% less power consumption vs the standard 24 PWM / 16 degrees timings)

Battery after the flight was not totally discharged, i have space to try a couple Km longer flight next time.
