Pen-y-ghent & Plover Hill ¦ Yorkshire Dales ¦ Trek from Halton Gill ¦ Solo Wild Camping

Escaped to the Yorkshire Dales for a solo wild camping trip and, this time, I am exploring the route up and over Pen-y-ghent and Plover Hill from Halton Gill and Foxup on the eastern side of the summit.

I have been keen to tick off Pen-y-ghent again but didn’t want to do the “tourist route” up from Horton in Ribblesdale as I have done many times before. I was lucky with the weather as, although it was sub-zero overnight on the summit, the skies were clear and it remained dry and with only light winds.

The Queens Arms at Litton was back open again following the National restrictions but we had to eat and drink outside – all fine as it was bright and sunny (and warm enough!).

Taking care on the hills:
I’m not a pro, expert or any kind of leader on the mountains. I step out for fun and my own personal enjoyment. What I do is at my own risk. I do not suggest anyone does what I do, the way I do it, where I go or anything else in my videos. I’m always mindful of my own safety and doing what is right with respect to the environment and others on the hills.
