1.Students from Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur, developed the Veer Sahara App, a digital platform to connect defence families with government welfare schemes. The app uses a step-by-step form and AI-assisted voice guidance to help users easily navigate the process. It identifies relevant schemes and awards based on user input and provides direct application links. It aims to support ex-servicemen, widows, dependents, and families of martyrs by reducing complexity, delays, and dependence on intermediaries.
2.Kerala became India’s first state to adopt a comprehensive Urban Policy for the next 25 years. The policy was announced in the 2023–24 State Budget and approved by the State Cabinet. Kerala Urban Policy Commission was formed in December 2023 and submitted its report in March 2025. A global conference in Kochi discussed the report and suggestions were included in the final policy. The Commission estimates 80 percent of Kerala will be urbanised by 2050. The policy promotes climate-smart cities, scientific planning, and decentralised governance. It focuses on reducing inequalities, ensuring social support, and improving urban amenities. It suggests Public Private People Partnership for future development.
3.The release of silt-laden water from Pandoh Dam into the Sutlej River instead of the Beas River has caused objections from the Punjab Government. Pandoh Dam is an embankment and concrete gravity dam built on the Beas River in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, about 10 km from Manali. It was completed in 1977 under the Beas Project mainly for hydroelectric power generation. The dam is about 76 metres high and 492 metres long and follows a run-of-the-river design. Beas River water is diverted through 38 km long canals and tunnels to the Dehar Power House and then released into the Sutlej River.
4.Madhya Pradesh has declared 2026 as the “Year of Agriculture,” announced by Governor Mangu Bhai Patel. Agriculture budget increased from ₹600 crore in 2002-03 to over ₹27,000 crore in 2024-25. A multifaceted agricultural development model with 10 activities is being implemented, including technology transfer, income enhancement, natural farming, marketing, export, innovation, and digital transparency. e-Mandi scheme covers 259 markets with 40 lakh farmers registered. Animal husbandry and milk production are being promoted; cow shelter grants doubled and 1,200 new milk cooperatives formed.
5.Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush inaugurated “Chintan Shivir 2026” in New Delhi (2-day event ending 17 April 2026). The event aims to review progress, identify gaps, and plan a future roadmap for the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) sector. It emphasises evidence-based traditional medicine and integration with modern healthcare systems. The Ministry launched a WhatsApp channel and a toll-free number (1800-11-0008) for public engagement. The initiative aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and promotes “Heal in India, Heal by India.”
