Waikato 50 water treatment plant in Tuakau is officially opened
Our Waikato 50 water treatment plant in Tuakau has been officially opened. Planned and constructed in record time, the plant is one of the most sophisticated in the country and will treat up to 50 million litres of water a day. It uses ultra-filtration and membrane technology to turn the river water into top-quality drinking water. The Waikato 50 plant is part of our drought response measures introduced over the past year. Combined, those measures will give us an extra 106 million litres of water a day by the end of next summer. Press play on the video to see the work that's been happening in Tuakau over the past 12 months.
