Rough Machining of Hard Stainless Steel Forging

We do this part a few times a year. Very tough material especially in a rough forging. Used good cutters and drills and made easy work of it. I only caught the roughing on camera this time. I will do a longer video next time this part comes thru. After the roughing we do finishing turning, shrink fit an Xaloy adapter, finish milling and drilling, then send out for EDM and install the flange.

I wish some tool company would send me some free tools to try. Hint Hint Hint.
