July 7th, 2018 -The Cure Plainsong - Hyde Park

The Cure opened with Plainsong on Saturday, July 7th in Hyde Park, London at 20:00 BDT. They were the last act of the day, which was filled-in with performances from other bands that The Cure invited to play, in celebration of their 40th Anniversary. Robert is glowing strong and ready to take The Cure into 2020.

I was standing with a gorgeous, light, teal-eyed, brunette German woman who left her family for the weekend to fly (even though she's afraid of flying) to see The Cure. She has worked with mentally ill people for 25 years and has three teenagers, so needed an escape. When her kids called to ask where she was, she let them know she was fine and in London. The other people I stood close to were an Israeli couple who came to town just for The Cure. The husband was a handsome, twinkling eyed man who deeply cared for his pretty, sweet wife, who sat out most of the show until The Cure came on. The other people around me were slightly rude, so don't deserve stories ;-), but generally, people at Cure shows are kindred spirits.

This is #10 for me. I can only fully enjoy the show if I'm standing in front of Robert Smith. It's amazing how so many people can love him, but he has the kind of presence that connects deeply with his audiences. The show is over, but I'm still dancing in bliss in my hotel near Hyde Park as I go through the pictures and videos from the show.
