Land Grabbing FIR Delay? Gujarat Law Deadlines Explained in 2 minutes
⚖️ Gujarat Land Grabbing Act – Part 2: Know Your Legal Deadlines & Remedies
Is your land grabbing complaint not moving ahead? Is the FIR still not registered or the Land Grabbing Committee is delaying your case? In this video, I explain the official timelines fixed by the Government of Gujarat and what you can legally do if authorities don’t act in time.
Under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, a Government Notification dated 16/12/2020 has set strict deadlines for processing land grabbing complaints.
In this video, we break down the key stages in simple language:
Within 5 days – Prant Officer to call for documents from the complainant.
Within 21 days – Prant Officer to submit Final Report to the District Collector.
Within 21 days – Land Grabbing Committee to order FIR registration, if a prima facie case exists.
Within 7 days – Police to register FIR after the Committee’s direction.
Within 30 days – Investigating Officer to submit Final Report to the Special Court.
The District Collector should hold a review meeting every 15 days to monitor cases.
If these timelines are not followed:
Send a written reminder/representation to the concerned authority (Prant Officer / Collector / Committee / Police).
If there is still no action, you may approach the Hon’ble Gujarat High Court by filing a Writ of Mandamus under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking directions for expeditious decision or FIR registration (as per facts of your case).
📜 Reference Case:
Gujarat High Court – Special Criminal Application No. 8821 of 2024, order dated 15.07.2024, where the Vadodara Land Grabbing Committee was directed to expedite disposal of the land grabbing proceedings.
