Rain can be deadly for some of Canada’s smallest creatures. Three raindrops can equal the weight of a hummingbird that’s working hard to stay in the air. For small insects, a direct hit is comparable to a human having a pickup truck dropped on their head!
But the hummingbird can shake off the incoming drops in midair, shaking up to 50 times a second.
