Tips to Improve Digestive Upset After Meals #registereddietitian #guthealth #digestiveproblems

Don’t forget some of the basics when it comes to reducing tummy upset.

1. Slow down & relax! Eating in a stressed, worried or hectic state will make digestion much harder. Take a few moments to breathe deeply before a meal, chew slowly, focus on your food not 20 other things, taste and enjoy your food, and stop once in a while to take another breath and put the fork down.

2. Artificial sweeteners can cause GI upset in many people. Try cutting them out foods and drinks with these for a few weeks and see how you feel.

3. Highly processed foods are often full of chemicals that are harmful to the body and gut. Cut back on these and try to add in more natural, wholesome foods. But add in fibrous foods slowly, because too much at once can also cause GI upset.
